Description
Visiting Praia Dona Ana and the Algarve region in Portugal was a very rewarding experience that influenced my work. At sunset, I set to photograph Praia Dona Ana, and that day was so calm, sunny and devoid of tourists that it felt strange. I was struck by how the rich blue tones of the sky gently merged with the calm waters as night was falling, creating an overall feeling of tranquility. It wasn’t just about the colors, though. As I was looking for my composition, I noticed three rock formations rising from the water that could provide a strong foreground.
Instead of avoiding the distant city lights along the horizon, I decided to include them. They added a subtle element that contrasted with the natural environment without overpowering it. It reminded me of the balance between nature and human presence, something I often explore in my photography. Being there, I felt a quiet connection to nature, and I wanted to capture that in a way that invited the viewer to pause and reflect.
