Description
Ponta da Piedade’s secluded beaches offer a distinct kind of quiet that’s rare to find, especially in a place known for its dramatic landscapes and hoards of tourists. When I was there, what struck me most was how this little sandy beach felt untouched. It wasn’t perfectly pristine, there were patches of seaweed and scattered rocks, but that added to the authenticity of the scene. These natural details guided the eye organically toward the sea stacks, grounding the composition.
Photographing there very early in the morning required patience and a certain openness to the environment. The isolation of this beach allowed for a focused observation — no distractions from crowds or commercial activity, just the landscape in its own time. That stillness, I believe, translated into the photograph. This image was awarded an Honorable Mention into the WPE Competition.
