Description
Staying with the theme of impermanence and the transition from summer to fall, I wanted to evoke a sense of motion and the natural flow of time, rather than freezing a moment statically. The swirling patterns and softly blurred leaves and petals aren’t accidental, they come from intentional camera movement during the shot, which allowed me to create a fluid, almost painterly composition. It’s a technique that resembles Impressionism in how it captures light, movement, and atmosphere rather than sharp details.
The muted tones throughout the work create a quiet, reflective mood, somewhat nostalgic, which I think resonates with how fall often invites us to slow down and look back. It’s a season that embodies change, but also a graceful letting go. You can see this in the soft yellow-browns, in contrast with the occasional bursts of reds, the last moments of summer energy.
I’m drawn to fall because it symbolizes transition, the beauty of decay as much as the promise of renewal. The mixture of calm and movement in the piece reflects that balance, encouraging viewers to consider the passage of time as something both inevitable and meaningful. The use of blurred imagery helps communicate that the moment is passing, yet still full of life and nuance, much like the shifting seasons themselves.
